AWARDS

Points will be awarded at each championship round irrespective of and separate from any championship run by the promoting club.
End of year awards will be awarded to all classes but will be dependant on the level of support for the relevant class.
Championship points will be awarded as follows 1st ~ 10, 2nd ~ 8, 3rd ~ 6, 4th ~ 5, 5th ~ 4, 6th ~ 3, 7th~ 2, 8th~1
Points will be awarded in both races on the day and trophies generally for the first race of the day only.
In the event of the promoting club running more than 2 races per day per class Earlystocks Championship points will only be awarded in the first two races.
In the event of a weekend meeting each day will count as a separate championship round.
In the event of only one race being run at a championship round this will carry double points.

CLUBS

In the majority of cases you will also have to be a member of the race organising club i.e. EMRA etc Details of the membership forms for the other clubs you will need to join will be sent out to you following receipt of your Earlystocks membership application and when race dates are confirmed.

ENTRIES

As yet the format of the entries i.e. to whom sent and to whom entry cheques are made payable has yet to be finalised for all of the rounds. Full details will be forwarded with the full list of championship rounds when they have been confirmed.
A club member may race a machine that is known to not comply with the regs on a maximum of 3 occasions and only if by the closing date there is space on the grid; this applies only to otherwise eligible machines that fail to comply with the regs in some minor way.
Anyone failing to comply with the machine eligibility rules will not score points or be eligible for trophies and will start from the rear of the grid.

MACHINE ELIGIBILITY

Any "production" twin shock air cooled machine of a type which was readily available in the U.K. pre 1990, retro.s i.e. Zephyrs etc are not allowed. The club does allow certain water cooled twin shock production road machines available during the period to be used, e.g. GT750, CX500, VT500 etc. Limited editions produced by importers or accessory companies, e.g. Dunstalls etc, are not classed as production machines. Any variations from the standard spec of the machine must remain within the extent of modifications allowed in a particular class. Production machine means any machine suitable for road use in the UK as supplied by either manufacturer or importer. It does not extend to specialist frame manufacturers such as P & M, Bimota etc, who used brought in engines in their own frames.
We also have a totally separate class for Yamaha RD250LCs.

DEFINITION OF MACHINE TYPE

Due to the large number of versions of the same basic models that have been made over the years where the word standard is used in the regs this will relate to the basic machine type, not a specific model or year of manufacturer. e.g. RD250.s, RD350.s and RD400.s would be classed as one type of machine as would the Kawasaki Z400, 500 and 550 four cylinder machines. The Suzuki GT250.s and X7.s would not, likewise the GS1000.s and GSX1100.s. If a particular size of machine in a series has an improved specification this can only be used on that sized machine. E.g. you can run a D.O.H.C 750 Honda with a CB900 engine, which in effect becomes a CB900, and you can use the larger diameter forks used on the latter 900.s. You cannot put a CB750 engine in a latter CB900 and continue to use the larger diameter forks, also for example you can not fit a GSX1100 engine to a GS1000 frame and vice versa.

IMPORTS

Although the eligibility rules relate to U.K. machines it is realised that there are a growing number of imports in circulation. To cater for this, only imports that are based on a UK model i.e. same engine and rolling chassis etc will be automatically eligible provided the specification does not exceed that to which a U.K. spec. machine can be modified.
Imports not falling into the above category will be considered for eligibility on an individual basis.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

Where a machine was offered with optional extras from new, these modifications will be allowed provided that the machine owner can provide documented evidence of such modifications being offered as "official" extras at the time of sale.

250, 500, 750, 1300 & SINGLES/TWINS CLASSES

FRAMES

Frame and geometry must remain standard i.e. steering head angle must not be altered. The Addition of gussets or other forms of bracing is permitted provided the general appearance of the frame remains close to standard i.e. general profile remains unaltered. You cannot add a perimeter box section frame and claim it is merely a braced standard frame as it retains the original headstock and swing arm pivot points. The choice of swing arm is unrestricted as are rear shocks but top suspension mounts to remain as standard. Steering dampers are allowed.

FORKS AND YOKES

Front forks can be from a pre 1990 production machine i.e. no race forks etc. Maximum stanchion size permitted to be no greater than that of original forks. Yokes must be from the same manufacturer as the frame. Fork braces are allowed.

WHEELS

Wheels incorporating either magnesium alloy or carbon fibre are not allowed unless the standard wheel, or component of wheel, has been retained. Any wheel not from a production machine must be of a type available pre 1990.

FRONT WHEEL

Minimum diameter 18" no rim width limitations.

REAR WHEEL

No diameter restriction, maximum rim width 4.5".

TYRES

Moulded treaded race tyres or road legal tyres are permitted, "WETS" are not allowed, no cut tyres, no tyre warmers allowed.
750cc and 1300cc class machines are limited to a maximum rear tyre section of 160.
250cc, 500cc and single cylinder class machines are limited to a maximum rear tyre section of 130, radial tyres not permitted for these classes.
"Wets" are classified as any non road legal tyre that is unsuitable in a race on a dry track i.e. you would have to change tyres between a fully wet practice and a race held in warm dry conditions.

BRAKES

FRONT BRAKES

Any twin piston calipers may be used. Any discs and master cylinder may be used. Fitment of twin discs is permitted. Any brake hoses etc are permitted.

REAR BRAKES

Any rear brakes are permitted.

BODYWORK

Non standard seats, tanks, handlebars and rear sets are permitted. Fairings are not allowed unless standard fitment, pattern fairings are permitted in such cases. All road going equipment e.g. lights etc. may be removed.
For machines without fairings the front number plate must be a flat plate curved in one plane only i.e. not made to resemble a fairing.

ENGINES

Any conventional tuning i.e. big bore kit, exhausts, ignition, cams, carbs etc is allowed, but no conversion to fuel injection or fitment of positive pressure air box systems is permitted. No rider aides i.e. slipper clutches, quick shifters etc allowed. Main castings i.e. crankcases, barrels and heads to be of original manufacturer and from a production machine. Numbers of valves are to remain as standard, crankshaft stroke to remain standard, with the following exception. Engine size may be increased by using a long stroke crank, only if replacement crank fits without modification to either itself or crankcases. E.g. XJ600 crank can be fitted to an XJ550. Addition of any material to, and subsequent machining of, main castings either as a performance aide or to enable fitment of alternative heads, barrels etc is not allowed.

USE OF REPLACEMENT ENGINES

The use of a replacement engine unit even from a later non eligible machine is permitted as long as the replacement is of the same generic type. Broadly speaking this would be a later, and or, larger version of the same basic type of engine, i.e. a development or progression of the original engine, not a new design. The number of valves etc engine stroke to remain as per original. Where engine modifications effectively allow an engine can be converted to a larger version i.e. Z650 with a Z750 top end or XJ550 fitted with XJ600 barrels and crank etc. Then later versions of this engine i.e. Z750, and in effect an XJ600 can be fitted. Any replacement engine can be modified as per the permitted engine modifications. The only limitation is that if the replacement engine is of a type not available pre 1990 then the replacement engine in standard form must not have any power advantage over any permitted period replacement standard engine. Please note that the model designation of a bike does not necessarily relate to the engine type. i.e. 2005 Z750 has no resemblance to a 1980.s Z750. Likewise a 1989 GSX1100F Suzuki uses a GSXR oil cooled based engine.

250 LC CLASS

FRAMES

The frame and swinging arm must be standard, i.e. unbraced, and all geometry unaltered.
Steering dampers are permitted. Brackets needed to fit race seat units non standard tanks etc are not considered as frame mods.

FORKS AND YOKES

The front forks and yokes must be standard except for internal modifications, fork braces are permitted.

BRAKES AND WHEELS

Wheels are to remain as standard. Standard size discs/drums to be retained. Any calliper can be used, twin piston maximum. Front master cylinder may be changed. Front brake can be uprated to the full LC350 spec i.e. twin discs etc. Non standard brake hoses, linkages etc are allowed.

ENGINES

Tuning, e.g. porting, etc. is permitted but fuel system must remain as standard type e.g. standard carburettors of original size must be retained; removal of filters/air boxes is permitted. No positive pressure air box systems. Engine castings to remain original type as fitted to machine. No external additions to such castings are allowed. The stroke of the crankshaft is to remain standard. Self-generating race ignition systems, e.g. Femsas or Motoplats, are not permitted.

EXHAUSTS

Exhausts may be changed to a series manufactured aftermarket road type and are limited to Micron, Gibson or Allspeed makes for full systems, or any manufacturers. original road system. In all cases the exhausts can be modified to aid fitment and or increase ground clearance. Any modifications must not increase the cross sectional area of the chamber at any point. Internal mods are allowed and there is no requirement for the exhausts to remain road legal.

TYRES

Cross ply, either moulded treaded race tyres or road legal tyres are permitted. Maximum nominal 130 section allowed. Radial tyres are not allowed. "Wets" are not allowed, no cut tyres. No use of tyre warmers allowed. "Wets" are classified as any non road legal tyre that is unsuitable in a race on a dry track i.e. you would have to change tyres between a fully wet practice and a race held in warm dry conditions.

PRE 1987 MONOSHOCK CLASS

Only production machines of a type that were readily available in the UK pre 1987 are permitted. Production machine means any machine suitable for road use in the UK as supplied by either manufacturers or official importer. It does not extend to any limited editions produced by manufacturers or importer, e.g. GSXR750R. Or accessory companies unless any variation from the standard machine remains within the extent of modifications allowed in a particular class. Machines from specialist frame manufacturers such as P&M, Bimotas, and Harris etc are not considered production machines.
Any machine that continued to be available beyond the cut off date will continue to be eligible provided that any change in specification to any part that must remain standard is minor, i.e. longer swing arm fitted to the later GSXR750H. It does not extend to the later 17inch front wheeled Yamaha FZ750 and Honda VFR750 etc. Where the word standard is used it relates to the basic machine type, not a specific model or year of manufacture. A common sense approach is used i.e. all Yamaha YPVS350 are considered to be one type, whereas the Suzuki GSX750 ESD/GSXR750 and Yamaha FZ600/FZ750 are not. As a result a YPVS350, for example, can use any combination of forks or wheels etc from any model sub type even though there are marked differences between some parts from different models.

IMPORTS

Only imports that are based on a UK available model are automatically eligible provided the specification does not exceed that to which a UK spec machine can be modified. Any part that must remain standard can only be of a different specification where it can be shown that the difference gives no performance advantage. E.g. the American GSXR750 had 34mm CV carbs with the same quoted power output the UK spec machine with 29mm slide carbs. In effect the standard type and size for a GSXR750 is either 29mm slide or 34mm cv carbs, 34mm slide carbs would not be allowed.
Any import not falling into the above category will be considered on an individual basis.

CAPACITY LIMITS

Water cooled and/or alloy framed machines upto 775cc.

Steel framed air cooled machines upto 1300cc.

FRAMES

Water cooled and/or alloy framed machines:
Frame, swing arm and suspension linkages to remain as standard, i.e. standard geometry and no additional bracing, brackets to fit non-standard seat units etc are not considered to be bracing.

Steel framed machines:
Frame and suspension linkages to remain standard, i.e. standard geometry and no additional bracing, brackets to fit non-standard seat units etc are not considered to be bracing. Non-standard swing arms are permitted.

FORKS AND YOKES

Forks and yokes to remain as standard fitment, internal modifications are allowed. Steering dampers of period type, .i.e. cylindrical piston type, are permitted. Non-standard fork braces are allowed.

WHEELS

To remain as standard fitment, spindle diameters to remain standard.

Standard sized discs to be retained. Callipers to have no more than original number of pistons. Any master cylinder may be used.

BODYWORK

Non-standard seats, tanks, handlebars and rear sets are allowed. Fairings are only allowed if fitted as standard. If fitted they must be as standard on that particular model of machine or pattern road or race part. Lower fairings may be modified to comply with the ACU oil containment regs. There is no requirement to run a fairing or part of fairing.

ENGINES

Conventional tuning is allowed i.e. big bore kits, exhausts, gas flowing, ignition, race cams etc are allowed. No rider aides allowed eg slipper clutches, quick shifters etc. Main engine castings i.e. crankcases, heads and barrels to remain original as is gearbox, clutch type and primary drive. Number of valves and crankshaft stroke to remain standard. Addition and subsequent machining of any material to main castings carried out as part of the tuning process is not permitted. Replacement oil coolers and radiators are permitted but must be of equivalent size as standard and retain original fitment position.

FUEL SYTEM

No conversion to fuel injection or up rating of any fuel system to an engine management system. Removal of air box and re jetting etc is permitted, no fitment of replacement, or conversion to, positive pressure air boxes is permitted. Unless as original fitment fuel and ignition systems to remain separate and independent.

WATER COOLED/ALLOY FRAME
Carburetters or injectors to remain of original type and size as standard fitment, i.e. no change from CV to slide carbs, or round slide CV to flat slide CV.

STEEL FRAMED MACHINES UP TO 750CC
Any carburettors may be used. Fuel injection systems may be uprated or changed for any carbs.

STEEL FRAMED MACHINES UP TO 1300CC
Carburettor or injectors to remain of standard type and size. Fuel injection systems may be replaced by carburettors of a type and size as fitted to an equivalent engine. E.g. GPz1100 injection systems can be replaced with the type and size of carburettors from a Z1100r etc

GENERAL

It is the responsibility of the rider to be able to show the eligibility of their machine. Please note that reference to any particular website will not automatically be accepted as proof. Unfortunatley there are many web sites out there with more mis-information than information.
For clarification of any points you're unsure of, e.g. engine mods, replacement engine units etc please contact us preferably by telephone to prevent potentially expensive mistakes.
All machines must comply with all A.C.U. regulations.
The onus is on the rider to prove eligibility of the machine he/she rides.
