AIMS OF THE CLUB First and foremost is to promote "a club atmosphere" and for you to enjoy your racing. To provide a more affordable form of racing while allowing machine development. To provide a competitive race series and championship. MEMBERSHIP Membership will run from 1st January to 31st December. Anyone who has not completed a membership form and paid their membership fee before they race will not score points or receive trophies. CLASSES 250 class - Up to 275cc 500 class - 276cc to 525cc 750 class - 526cc to 775cc 1300 class - 776cc to 1300cc SINGLE CYLINDER - open capacity open to 2 & 4 stroke machines YAMAHA 250LC CLASS - up to 275cc AWARDS Points will be awarded at each championship round irrespective of and separate from any championship run by the promoting club. End of year awards will be awarded to all classes but will be dependant on the level of support for the relevant class. Championship points will be awarded as follows 1st ~ 10, 2nd ~ 8, 3rd ~ 6, 4th ~ 5, 5th ~ 4, 6th ~ 3, 7th~ 2, 8th~1 Points will be awarded in both races on the day and trophies generally for the first race of the day only. In the event of the promoting club running more than 2 races per day per class Earlystocks Championship points will only be awarded in the first two races. In the event of a weekend meeting each day will count as a separate championship round. In the event of only one race being run at a championship round this will carry double points. CLUBS Membership forms for the other clubs you will need to join will be sent out to you if you are not already a member of the relevant club when we receive your Earlystocks membership application. ENTRIES As yet the format of the entries i.e. to whom sent and to whom entry cheques are made payable has yet to be finalised for all of the rounds. Full details will be forwarded with the full list of championship rounds when they have been confirmed. A club member may race a machine that is known to not comply with the regs only if by the closing date there is space on the grid; this applies only to otherwise eligible machines that fail to comply with the regs in some minor way. Anyone failing to comply with the machine eligibility rules will not score points or be eligible for trophies and will start from the rear of the grid. MACHINE ELIGIBILITY Any "production" twin shock air cooled machine of a type which was readily available in the U.K. pre 1990, retros i.e. Zephyrs etc are not allowed. The club does allow certain water cooled twin shock production road machines available during the period to be used, e.g. GT750, CX500, and Z1300 etc. Limited editions produced by importers or accessory companies, e.g. Dunstalls etc, are not classed as production machines. Any variations from the standard spec of the machine must remain within the extent of modifications allowed in a particular class. Production machine means any machine suitable for road use in the UK as supplied by either manufacturer or importer. It does not extend to specialist frame manufacturers such as P & M, Bimota etc, who used brought in engines in their own frames. We also have a totally separate class for Yamaha RD250LCs. DEFINITION OF MACHINE TYPE Due to the large number of versions of the same basic models that have been made over the years where the word standard is used in the regs this will relate to the basic machine type, not a specific model or year of manufacturer. e.g. Rd250's, RD350's and RD400's would be classed as one type of machine as would the Kawasaki Z400, 500 and 550 four cylinder machines. The Suzuki GT 250's and X7's would not, likewise the GS1000's and GSX1100's. If a particular size of machine in a series has an improved specification this can only be used on that sized machine. E.G. you can run a D.O.H.C 750 Honda with a CB900 engine, which in effect becomes a CB900, and you can use the larger diameter forks used on the latter 900's. You cannot put a CB750 engine in a latter CB900 and continue to use the larger diameter forks. IMPORTS Although the eligibility rules relate to U.K. machines it is realised that there are a growing number of imports in circulation. To cater for this, only imports that are based on a UK model i.e. same engine and rolling chassis etc will be automatically eligible provided the specification does not exceed that to which a U.K. spec. machine can be modified. Imports not falling into the above category will be considered for eligibility on an individual basis. OPTIONAL EXTRAS Where a machine was offered with optional extras from new, these modifications will be allowed provided that the machine owner can provide documented evidence of such modifications being offered as "official" extras at the time of sale. 250 LC CLASS FRAMES The frame and swinging arm must be standard, i.e. unbraced, and all geometry unaltered. Steering dampers are permitted. Brackets needed to fit race seat units non standard tanks etc are not considered as frame mods. FORKS AND YOKES The front forks and yokes must be standard except for internal modifications, fork braces are permitted. BRAKES AND WHEELS Wheels are to remain as standard. Standard discs/drums to be retained. The front callipers can be changed but must remain standard type i.e. limited to single piston sliding calliper. Front master cylinder may be changed but bore size to remain standard. Front brake can be uprated to LC350 spec i.e. twin discs and appropriate sized master cylinder. Non standard brake hoses, linkages etc are allowed. BODYWORK Non standard seats, handlebars and rear sets are permitted. Fairings are not allowed unless standard fitment, pattern fairings are permitted in such cases. All road going equipment e.g. lights etc. may be removed. For machines without fairings the front number plate must be a flat plate curved in one plane only i.e. not made to resemble a fairing. ENGINES Tuning, e.g. porting, cams etc. is permitted but fuel system must remain as standard type e.g. standard carburettors of original size must be retained, removal of filters/air boxes is permitted. No positive pressure air box systems. Engine castings to remain original type as fitted to machine. No external additions to such castings are allowed. The stroke of the crankshaft is to remain standard. Self-generating 'race' ignition systems, e.g. Femsas or Motoplats, are not permitted. EXHAUSTS Exhausts may be changed to a series manufactured aftermarket road type and are limited to Micron, Gibson or Allspeed makes for full systems, or any manufacturers' original road system. In all cases the exhausts can be modified to aid fitment and or increase ground clearance. Any modifications must not increase the cross sectional area of the chamber at any point. Internal mods are allowed and there is no requirement for the exhausts to remain road legal. TYRES Cross ply, either moulded treaded race tyres or road legal tyres are permitted. Maximum 130 section allowed. Radial tyres are not allowed. "Wets" are not allowed, no cut tyres. No use of tyre warmers allowed. "Wets" are classified as any non road legal tyre that is unsuitable in a race on a dry track i.e. you would have to change tyres between a fully wet practice and a race held in warm dry conditions. 250, 500, 750, 1300 & SINGLES CLASSES FRAMES The geometry of the frame must remain as standard i.e. steering head angle must not be altered. The Addition of gussets or other forms of bracing is permitted provided the general appearance of the frame remains close to standard i.e. general profile remains unaltered. You can not add a perimeter box section frame and claim it is merely a braced standard frame as it retains the original headstock and swing arm pivot points. The choice of swing arm is unrestricted as are rear shocks but top suspension mounts to remain as standard. Steering dampers are allowed. FORKS AND YOKES Front forks can be from a pre 1990 production machine i.e. no race forks etc. Maximum stanchion size permitted to be no greater than that of original forks. Yokes must be from the same manufacturer as the frame. Fork braces are allowed. WHEELS Wheels incorporating either magnesium alloy or carbon fibre are not allowed unless the standard wheel, or component of wheel, has been retained. Any wheel not from a production machine must be of a type available pre 1990. FRONT WHEEL Minimum diameter 18" no rim width limitations. REAR WHEEL No diameter restriction, maximum rim width 4.5". TYRES Moulded treaded race tyres or road legal tyres are permitted, "WETS" are not allowed, no cut tyres, no tyre warmers allowed. 750cc and 1300cc class machines are limited to a maximum rear tyre section of 160. 250cc, 500cc and single cylinder class machines are limited to a maximum rear tyre section of 130, radial tyres not permitted for these classes. "Wets" are classified as any non road legal tyre that is unsuitable in a race on a dry track i.e. you would have to change tyres between a fully wet practice and a race held in warm dry conditions. BRAKES FRONT BRAKES Any twin piston calipers may be used. Any discs and master cylinder may be used. Fitment of twin discs is permitted. Any brake hoses etc are permitted. REAR BRAKES Any rear brakes are permitted. ENGINES Any conventional tuning i.e. exhausts, ignition, cams, carbs etc is allowed, but no conversion to fuel injection or fitment of positive pressure air box systems is permitted. Main castings i.e. crankcases, barrels and heads to be of original manufacturer and from a production machine. Numbers of valves are to remain as standard, crankshaft stroke to remain standard, with the following exception. Engine size may be increased by using a long stroke crank, only if replacement crank fits without modification to either itself or crankcases. E.G. XJ600 crank can be fitted to an XJ550. Addition of any material to, and subsequent machining of, main castings either as a performance aide or to enable fitment of alternative heads, barrels etc is not allowed. USE OF REPLACEMENT ENGINES The use of a replacement engine unit even from a later non eligible machine is permitted as long as the replacement is of the same generic type. Broadly speaking this would be a later, and or, larger version of the same basic type of engine, i.e. a development or progression of the original engine, not a new design. In all cases the limitations regarding permitted engine modifications, e.g. valves and stroke, must be complied with. If the permitted engine modifications allow a particular machine to be increased in capacity to that of a larger version of the same generic engine type, i.e. Z650 actually converted to a Z750 the use of any complete Z750 type engine unit is allowed. There is no requirement for the engine unit to be from an eligible machine. The only limitation is that if the replacement engine unit is not period i.e. from a machine not available pre 1990 the replacement must not have any performance advantage over any permitted period replacement. Any replacement engine can be "tuned" in accordance with the permitted engine mods. N.B. The model designation does not always describe the engine type i.e. the current Z750 engine is water cooled, bearing no resemblance to the 1980's Z750's. Likewise the 1989 onwards GSX750F uses a GSXR series engine, which is obviously not eligible. GENERAL For clarification of any points you're unsure of, e.g. engine mods, replacement engine units etc please contact us preferably by telephone to prevent potentially expensive mistakes. All machines must comply with all A.C.U. regulations. The onus is on the rider to prove eligibility of the machine he/she rides. |
